Let’s see here. Okay, technically Ash&Co. save them from drowning in Pokémon Shipwreck, but it was actually Misty’s Goldeen that saves them when it finds them underwater. They do work together throughout the rest of this episode though, and that’s in the first season.
I think the part you’re probably thinking of though is in Beach Blank-Out Blastoise. Ash&Co. save them from drowning, then Jessie gets mad at them for it, lol. Also in the first season.
There are actually quite a lot of episodes where they help each other or save each other, but at the moment the only two I can really remember are Forest Grumps (Johto) and Scare at Litwick Mansion (BW). There’s usually at least one or two per season though, so they shouldn’t be too hard to find.
They work together in a few of the movies too, the main one being Pokemon 2000.
